HaluPix Duo as the Visual Heart of the Year's Most Anticipated Pop Tour

The HaluPix Duo played a starring role in one of the most anticipated live productions of the year: the long-awaited return to the stage of one of contemporary pop's most recognisable voices. Opening at Oakland Arena in California, the tour spans 41 shows across North America and London.

The stage was conceived as a fully immersive environment, designed to bring the artist and the audience closer together through a 360-degree experience. To support this vision, the production required technical solutions capable of integrating seamlessly into a scenic structure while delivering both lighting and video functions, a challenge for which the HaluPix Duo, supplied by production services company PRG, turned out to be the perfect fit.

The show takes place on a stage extending from the main area along a runway, with a smaller circular thrust at mid-point, to a larger circular thrust at the far end. On the final platform, 148 HaluPix Duo arranged in a circle form the base of a large LED cylinder suspended in the air, illuminating the artist from above, creating atmosphere across the performance and serving as the visual anchor of one of the show's most compelling moments.

The HaluPix Duo plays a central role in this moment. Mounted overhead on the ground support structure and pointed downward toward the stage, the fixture's dual-source architecture proved ideal for the production's creative vision: the beam layer creates a cage of light around the performance area, enveloping the artist and responding dynamically to her movements, while the pixel layer integrates seamlessly with the LED screens surrounding the suspended volume and the stage edges.

The fixtures are controlled from both the lighting console and media server, while the 441 RGBWW pixels are driven by the media server for video content and pixel-mapped visuals. This integration of lighting and video control in a single product makes HaluPix Duo a powerful tool for large-scale live productions, offering both raw visual impact and precise creative flexibility.

The HaluPix Duo units are suspended on a custom structure built and automated by TAIT. As Max Nash, Project Manager at TAIT, explains, one of the primary challenges was managing the weight of the hanging structure while meeting the scenic requirements of the show. An aluminium frame was engineered to keep the overall weight down while providing the strength needed to support the panels, alongside a hatch door system designed to open at a key moment in the production. Additional accommodations were made to facilitate panel replacement on the road, and the fixture's glass surface required a custom packaging solution to withstand life on tour.

Automation was handled through 18 Nav Hoists, used to raise the entire structure and drive the hatch door mechanism. All automated elements are controlled via the TAIT Navigator Automation Platform.

Its role in one of the biggest US arena tours confirms the HaluPix Duo as a fixture capable of defining the visual identity of the world's most ambitious live productions. Its combination of raw output and per-pixel creative control continues to open new possibilities for lighting designers working at the intersection of lighting and video.
